WAYNESVILLE — Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and lawmen with the Brantley County Sheriff's Department have issued a plea to the public for information that may lead them to solve the case of murder in the Waynesville Community.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation Agent Stacey Carson said Friday, June 16 no new information is available in the murder investigation involving the death of Kelly Gene Gibson, 40, whose body was found at a residence here on Friday, May 19.
“All we can say is that the investigation remains active and please, if anyone has any kind of information about the incident, we ask them to call us at the GBI office in Kingsland,” said Carson. “There is nothing new to report. It’s an active and continuing investigation.”
Agent Richard Dial confirmed a week ago that according to results of autopsy, the death has been determined to be homicide.
Gibson’s body was found at his residence in the Waynesville community by a family member on Friday, May 19. The autopsy determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound.
The Brantley County Sheriff's Department contacted the GBI on May 19 and requested their assistance with the investigation.
Brantley County Sheriff Len Davis asks if anyone has any kind of information that may help with the investigation, to contact the Brantley County Sheriff's Department, the GBI office in Kingsland at (912) 729-6198 or call 911 to make a report.
