WAYCROSS — Mrs. Sue Evelyn Dowling, 88, died Sunday afternoon, June 25, 2023, at Baptist Village Retirement Communities.

Mrs. Dowling was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. She was a tower watchman with the Georgia Forestry Commision for 25 years and attended Pine Valley Church.

She was the daughter of the late Elmer Cox and Vera Sowell Cox. Mrs. Dowling also was preceded in death by five siblings, Larry Cox, Ronnie Cox, Curtis Cox, Elmarine Houghton, and Gary Cox.

She is survived by three sons, Terry Dowling (Esther), Johnny Dowling, and William “Phil” Dowling (Kim) all of Waycross; her grandchildren, Kimberly Boatright (Eric), Emily Waters (Dusty), Shelby Hiers (Robbie), Sara Dowling, Carlton “Greg” Dasher (Beth), Allen Dasher, and Larry Dasher (Kayla); 16 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; four siblings, Grover Cox of Jacksonville, Fla., Jenny Wells of Fleming Island, Fla., Barbara Roberson of Waycross, and Jerry Cox (Marlene) of Jacksonville; a special friend, Viola Dowling; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside service was  held Thursday, June 29 at Kettle Creek Cemetery.
