WAYCROSS — June Whiddon Dryden, 85, of Waycross died Saturday morning, June 10, 2023, at Harborview Satilla after an extended illness.
Mrs. Dryden was born in Waycross to the late Jessie Belvie Whiddon and Georgie Vilee Aldridge Whiddon. She made Waycross her home all her life.
Mrs. Dryden was a graduate of Waycross High School Class of 1956 and became an accomplished Registered Nurse who worked labor and delivery at the Waycross Hospital. She also worked for Satilla Regional Medical Center, Dr. Lewis, Dr. Lynch and retired from Dr. Al Davis’s office.
Mrs. Dryden loved to vacation, travel and cook for all of her family. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Grace Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dryden was preceded in death by four siblings, Joyce Lindon, Roger Whiddon, Charles Whiddon and Terry Whiddon.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Eddie Dryden of Waycross; three children, Carol Ann Braddock (husband Barry) of Waycross, Keith Dewayne Dryden (wife Sharman) of Columbus, Ga., and Christopher William Dryden (wife Angie) of Waycross; eight grandchildren, Ashley Crosby-Holland (David), Casey Crosby (Caroline), Hannah Grifenhagen (Benji), Conner Brooke Binkley (Aubrey), Tyler Dryden, Sydney Dryden, Elaina Willis (Anthony), and Eli Smith; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenny Whiddon (wife Jennifer) of Dublin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 17 at 2 p.m., at Central Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. at the church.
The family requests the Grace Sunday School Class serve as honorary pallbearers and should be at the church by 1:45 p.m.
