Jay Grady Blanchette, 90, of Blackshear, passed away early Wednesday afternoon, September 14, 2022, at his residence.
Born in West Palm Beach, FL May 5, 1932, he had lived in Pierce County since the late 1970s. He was a US Navy veteran and had been a carpet installer for 54 years. He loved to work and enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of Living River Church of God and had been of the Church of God faith for many years.
He was a son of the late Jesse Woods and Nannie Bell Perry Blanchette. He was also preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Varnadore Blanchette, Blackshear; two daughters and a son-in-law, Vicki Sweat and Collette and Joey Griffin, all of Blackshear; five grandchildren, Keith (Kris) Harris, Kim (Michael) Wills, Levi Cox, Melissa (Greg) Murphy and Rebecca (Maurice) Strickland; 12 great-grandchildren, Jaron Raulerson, Trenton Raulerson, Dalton Herrin, Abbie Herrin, Ashton Herrin, Caitlyn Harris, Brooke Harris, Zoe Harris, Cody Hale, Gavin Wills, Allison Wills and Avery Wills; two great-great-grandchildren, Nixon Harris and Tayven Jones and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, from the Living River Church of God with Pastor R. B. Gaskins officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.
Memorialization is by cremation.
