John Lee Davis

WAYCROSS —  Mr. John Lee Davis, 81, died Thursday evening, June 1, 2023, at Hospice House Satilla following a short illness.

Davis was born in Ware County to the late James Manning “Bud” Davis and Fannie Missouri Douglas Davis. He married the late Jeanette Wilson Davis in 1964. Davis retired from General Housing where he worked as a production manager and attended Hephzibah Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents and wife, Davis is also preceded in death by six siblings, Levo Davis Steedley, Floyd Davis, Wilmer Davis, Gehu Davis, Evelyn Davis Steverson and Carrie Davis O’Berry.

He is survived by a daughter, Nicole Sweat (Rob) of Blackshear; two sons, John W. Davis and Manning Davis (Danielle) both of Blackshear; four grandchildren, Logan Carrin (Laycee), Jameson Davis, Parker Mizell and Rhett White; two great grandchildren, Whitt Carrin and Illa Kate Carrin; two sisters, Laila Jones of Brunswick and Judy Deen of White Oak, Ga.; two brothers, Ronnie Davis of Waycross and Rev. Clayton Davis of Millwood; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service was held Monday afternoon, June 5, 2023, at Indian Mound Baptist Church.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.
