WAYCROSS — Mr. David Bernard Karle, 65, of Waycross, died Monday morning, May 29, 2023 at the Satilla Hospice House after an extended illness.
He was born in Waycross to the late A.A. “Gus” Karle and Barbara Hipp Karle.
Growing up in Waycross, Karle was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a 1976 graduate of Waycross High School and was a member of the Bulldogs football team.
Karle worked as a Senior Maintenance Inspector for TTX for 41 years until his retirement in 2017. He lived in Jacksonville, Fla., and Fayetteville, Pa., before moving back to Waycross in 2018.
A hard worker, who loved to stay busy, Karle enjoyed working in his yard, cooking, grilling, and providing an extra pair of hands to anyone who needed help with anything. He loved most his family, friends and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Most recently he was attending New Life Assembly of God in Blackshear.
Along with his parents, Karle was preceded in death by three siblings, Betsy Karle, Steve Karle and Marty Karle.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Jo Karle of Waycross; two daughters, Amy Wilke and her husband, Scotty, of Blackshear, and Rebecca Crosby and her husband, Robbie, of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, Cheyenne Valdez and her husband, Carlos, and Caleb Bryars; six brothers and sisters, Mary Woodruff and her husband, Joe, of Waycross, Daniel Karle and his wife, Norma, of Greenwood, S.C., Dr. Ginny Karle and her husband, Dr. Lou Bridges, of Birmingham, Ala., Chris Karle and his wife, Darlene, of Blackshear, Matthew Karle and his wife, Rita, of Jacksonville, Fla., Kathy Aldridge and her husband, Bo, of Blackshear; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. today (Saturday, June 3) at New Life Assembly of God in Blackshear.
The family will receive friends at the church Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
