Robert Steven Byrd

ORANGE PARK — Mr. Robert Steven Byrd, 60, died Saturday, July 15, 2023, at HCA Florida Orange Park from injuries received in an automobile accident.

He was born July 9, 1963 in Waycross to the late Choochie Robert Byrd and Barbara Thrift Byrd.  

Byrd graduated from Brantley County High School. He was employed as a battery crew manager by BMW at the Brunswick Port Authority.  

Byrd also was formerly employed by the Camden County Board of Education for several years.  

He was an avid hunter and fisherman who was a member of the Coon Hunting Association. Byrd also enjoyed attending car races.

In addition to his parents, Byrd was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Miller.

Survivors include two sisters, Shirley Herrin (husband J.R.) and Janice Miller (late Sammy); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., today, (Wednesday, July 19) at Suwannee Chapel Church of God of Prophecy.  

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  

The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. today at the church.
