BLACKSHEAR — Pastor Roby Junior “R.J.” Bennett, 92, died Monday afternoon, July 24, 2023, at Harborview Pierce County.
Bennett was born May 11, 1931 in Ware County to the late Jasper Bennett, Sr. and Lillie Bennett.
Bro. Bennett was the former owner/operator of Bennett’s Cabinet Shop. He served the Lord as a Minister for more than 50 years. During his ministry, Bro. Bennett visited nursing homes, shut-ins and prayed for the sick. He also led a radio ministry in Alma, Douglas and Blackshear.
In addition to his parents, Bro. Bennett also was preceded in death by his former wife, Genene Courson Bennett; daughters, Glenda Holcomb and Gail Forbes; stepdaughter, Patricia Harper; brother, C.J. Bennett; and sisters, Cleo Wilson, Clio Farmer, Neola O’Bright and Emmaline Delk.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Brigmond Bennett; his children, Roger Bennett, Wayne Bennett (Machell), Julie Sikes (Joe), Brenda Mock (Terry), David Bennett and Daniel Bennett (Angie); stepchildren, Connie McKinnon, June Adams and Victoria Gomez (Larry); grandchildren, Heather Lopez, Ben Forbes, McKenzie Forbes, Shanna Stalvey, William Bennett, Brent Holcomb, Matt Holcomb, Kayla Holcomb, Kaleb Holcomb, Jamanda Morris, Terryn Mock (deceased), Justin Bennett, Brittany Sherman, Macy Bennett and Camden Bennett; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Jasper Bennett, Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Friday, July 28 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial followed in Waters Cemetery.
