WAYCROSS — Mrs. Linda Gail Smith Chancey, 73, died Tuesday afternoon, July 4, 2023, at Hospice House Satilla.
Mrs. Chancey was born November 18, 1949, in Ware County to the late Robert Smith and Allie Herndon Smith, one of 17 children. She formerly owned and operated a construction business with her late husband, and she attended Swamp Road Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chancey also was preceded in death by her husband, George Elias Chancey; and a granddaughter, Christen Brooke Wolfe.
Survivors include her children, Wanda Adams of Blackshear, Robert Chancey of Blackshear, Danny Chancey of Waycross, Melissa Howard (Joseph) of Blackshear and Sherry Chancey of St. Mary’s; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; siblings, Paul Smith (Cynthia), Katrina Thompson (Jack) and Pauline Corbett (late Avery); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Friday, July 7 at Swamp Road Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
