WAYCROSS — Mrs. Maryann Kasunich Dixon, 79, passed away suddenly Thursday, July 6, 2023, at her residence in Waycross.
She was born in McKeesport, Pa., to the late Marko Kasunich and Caroline Krznaric. She retired in 2005 from the Ware County Board of Education following 25 years of employment. She was a very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for over 50 years where she served in many leadership roles facilitating the growth of the church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, camping, and leading church bingo. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her sister, Caroline Boczar (husband Herb); and a brother, Mark Kasunich.
She is survived by her husband of 57 ½ years, Truman “Dick” Dixon of Waycross; three children, Jennifer Flowers (husband Will) of Athens, Ga., Mark Dixon (wife Darla) of Waycross, and Brian Dixon (wife Paige) of Athens; two grandchildren, Wesley “Koen” Flowers and Walker Flowers; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass was held 11 Monday, July 10 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
