BAXLEY — Nola J. Smith, age 84, of Baxley passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at the Pavilion.
Mrs. Smith was born March 20, 1938 in Ware County to the late Robert Grover Lee and the late Annie Maybelle Fichette Lee. She was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church, was an avid cook, and loved visiting shut-ins.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Joe A. Smith, Sr.; grandson, Harry “Buckshot” Rigdon; and great-grandson, Jake Smith.
Survivors include her sons, Steve (Donna) Smith and Andy (Carolyn) Smith all of Baxley; 10 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Friday, December 16 at Red Oak Baptist Church with the Rev. Josh Gardner, the Rev. Daniel Harris, and the Rev. Ron Ross officiating.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Joe Smith, Josh Gardner, Kevin Thompson, Austin Williams, Cody Crummey, Eric Watts and Cooper Gardner.
Honorary pallbearers were the Adult Sunday School Class of Red Oak Baptist Church and employees and staff of the Pavilion B Hall.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
