WAYCROSS — Janis Meadows Searle, 76, of Waycross, died early Saturday morning, December 17, 2022, at her daughter’s residence after an extended illness.
Ms. Searle was born in Daytona Beach, Fla., to the late Kernis Meadows and Ruth Whitford Meadows. Living most of her life in Daytona Beach, she moved to Waycross in 1998. Ms. Searle worked for Walmart in Waycross for more than 15 years, was very crafty with an excellent green thumb, and had great joy from making wreaths for the residents at Harborview Satilla in Waycross.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Karen Clausman.
Ms. Searle is survived by three children, Jennifer West and her husband, C.J., of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Stephen B. Searle III and his wife, Erin, of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Natalie Henderson and her husband, Jamie, of Waycross; six grandchildren, Alec Henderson, Stephen B. Searle IV, “Her Hero” Jenny Lee and her husband, Trent, Magnus Searle, Charlie West and Cooper West; one sister, Marilyn Folsom and her husband, Ric; one brother, Robert Meadows and his wife, Deb; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 22 in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel.
The family would like to thank the PCU and ICU nurses and Patient Care Techs from Memorial Satilla Health Systems as well as Hospice Satilla for their compassionate and dedicated care.
