FOLKSTON — Calvin Johns, 77, of Folkston, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022.
He was born in Folkston on July 9, 1945, to the late Lillie Johns Carter. Calvin moved to New Orleans, La., and Mississippi at an early age, and resided there for many years. He worked as a private contractor for the railroad in Mississippi. He returned home to Georgia to retire. He was a member of Sandhill Baptist Church and a member of Masonic Lodge in Mississippi. He was the last living child of his mother, Lillie.
In addition to his mother, Lillie, he was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Hale; five brothers, Lewis, Bert, Harley, Melton and Neal Lee; and a stepson, Barry J. Brauner, Jr.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Linda McInvale Johns; three stepchildren, Keith (Penny) McInvale, Bryan McInvale, and Liz (Jerrold) Harden; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews he loved dearly. From a previous marriage, he was a beloved stepfather to Jason (Andrea) Brauner, Jennifer (Jacob) Hoffman; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were James Lee, Bobby Lee, Keith McInvale, Danny McInvale, Nick Seyler and Chandler Crumbley. Music was provided by Sabrina Murray.
The family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, November 28 at Sand Hill Baptist Church. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. with Pastor Trent Long and Calvin’s nephew, Pastor Joey Lee, officiating. Burial followed in Racepond Cemetery at Sand Hill Baptist Church.
