WAYCROSS — Naomi Ruth Martin, 77, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, November 27, 2022, at her home, surrounded by loving family members.
Ruth was born in Ware County on December 24, 1944, to Homer Eugene and Naomi Pittman Crawford. She grew up in Waycross and attended Ware Tech vocational school. For 61 years, she was a devoted wife to her husband, Thomas Wesley Martin. She was well-known for her beautiful smile, outgoing personality, excellent cooking skills, her love of the Lord, and her devotion to her family and friends.
She worked 16 years at Swisher Cigar Factory, and worked in the medical field for several years for many physicians, including one special one, Dr. Jill Goggans Bryant.
She served as a Sunday School teacher at Crawford Street Baptist for many years, and was currently a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and the Adult Ladies II Sunday School Class. She was a faithful member of the Silver Sneakers exercise group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Thomas Martin; eight, brothers, James Crawford, Homer Crawford, Chester Crawford, Virgil P. Crawford, Stanley Grady Crawford, Lester Crawford, Owen Crawford and Blanchard Crawford; and one sister, Vina Crawford Bullard.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Wesley Martin of Waycross; one son, Travis Martin (Jeannie) of Waycross; daughter-in-law, Theresa Martin of Waycross; grandchildren Maranda Conley of Waycross, Cassie Waters (Terry) of Bickley, Morgan Jones (John) of Nahunta, Caitlin Martin of Waycross, and Mitchell Martin of Waycross; five great grandchildren, Whitley Conley, Kelsey Duncan, Kyley Duncan, Carli Waters, and Talon Waters; brother, Harold Crawford (Frances); sister-in-law, Eleanor Crawford; and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the nurses and employees of Georgia Hospice for excellent care and support.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, November 30) in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Burial will be in High Bluff Cemetery. The Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Adult Ladies II Sunday School Class is asked to serve as honorary pall bearers and should be at the church at 10:40 a.m.
The family received visitors from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Music Funeral Home.
