WAYROSS — Mrs. Iris Marie Cox Williams, 73, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022, at her residence in Waycross following a brief illness.
She was born in Waycross to the late Ira Cox and Lucille Griffin Cox. She was employed with various sewing factories in the area, but most recently by the Ware County Board of Education at Memorial Drive Elementary School as a dietician. She was a member of Swamp Road Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Williams, Sr.; a granddaughter, Mary-Clare Woodard; and three siblings, Emory Cox, Mary Griffin, and Charlie Cox.
She is survived by three children, Tammy Woodard (Jim) of Hoboken, Wendy Murray of Hoboken, and Myra Fullard (Jacob) of Blackshear; grandchildren, Jenna Anderson (Edwin), Emily Woodard, Jessica Woodard, Cammy Woodard, and numerous others; nine siblings, Lillian Griffin of Waycross, Fred Cox (Ruby) of Waycross, Tom Cox (Patricia) of Waycross, Kenneth Cox (Eula Mae) of Waycross, George Cox (Wendy) of Waycross, Billy Cox (Debra) of Waycross, Sue Strickland of Blackshear, Delma Bennett of Waycross, and Jerry Cox (Krystal) of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, at Swamp Road Baptist Church.
