Waycross Public Works Department staffers were out on the main streets of the city Monday to begin installing the lighted Christmas decorations on utility poles. Workers have more than 100 of the ornaments to put up in the coming days to help get the downtown area ready for a more holiday look. That comes at 6 p.m., Thursday, December 1 with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting program sponsored by the Dowtown Waycross Development Authority. The city’s Christmas tree in Doughboy Park will be joined by the lighting of the authority’s other decorations to give the downtown area a festive look for the season.
