DOUGLAS — Mrs. Frances Juanita Cox, 79, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga.
Juanita was born in Bacon County to Cecil C. Coley and Laura Idella Brigman Cangialosi. She was a homemaker most of her life, but had been employed with Ware State Prison for several years. She was the former owner of L.J.’s Country Cafe and was a well-known author who published several books. She was a member of Olivet Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, she also was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Paul Cox, Sr.; a son, Gregory L. Cox; a step-sister, Betty Stover; and her adopted sister, Roxi Jannie Taylor.
She is survived by four children, Marcus P. Cox, Jr. (Laura) of Thomasville, Ga., James K. Cox of Blackshear, Laura J. Shoemaker of Atlanta, and Matthew P. Cox (Shanna) of Locust Grove, Ga.; a daughter-in-love, Phyllis Cox of Waycross; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; her mother, Laura Cangialosi of Dallas, Ga; two sisters, Diane Christmas of Orlando, Fla. and Elaine Cox of Dallas, Ga.; a brother, Foster Cangialosi (Leslie) of Orlando; a stepsister, Donna Burke; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Olivet Baptist Church in Waycross. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, November 2) at Music Funeral Home.
