SAVANNAH — Mr. Mickey O’Donald Clark, 81 of Bryson City, N.C., formerly of Waycross, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah after a brief illness.

He was born August 25, 1941, to the late L.F. Clark of Lyons & Dessie Myers Clark of Alamo. He was raised in Toombs County where he attended school at Toombs Central.

He went to work for the State Highway Department in 1959 until he joined the Marine Corps in April 1962, where he served until 1966. He served overseas in Morocco & Vieques, Puerto Rico. At the end of his enlistment, he made his home in Waycross where he worked for CSX Railroad Corporation until his retirement in 2002, after 36 years of service.

He had been a member of Maranatha Baptist Church (Countryside Baptist) since 1985, where he had served as a trustee, Sunday School teacher, Music Director, was active in vacation Bible School, and had a Sunday afternoon jail ministry, and was attending Harmony Baptist Church since moving to Bryson City.

He was preceeded in death by his parents; four brothers, Dallas Clark, Ronnie Clark, Milton Clark and Joey Clark; and one sister, Kathy Clark.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Dowling Clark, with whom he would have celebrated 57 years of marriage on September 18; a son, Cedric Clark, wife Alma, of North Pole, Alaska; a daughter, Carmon Wells, husband Eugene, of Jarrett, Va.; 13 grandchildren, Toniann McEvoy (Darren), Romalyn Vanderloop (David), Travis Clark (Melissa), Kristin Garcia (David), Kenneth Clark (Abigale), DyanJean Clark, Raymond Clark, Michelle Clark, Marwin Clark, Sariah Thayer, Dylan Thayer, Nathan Wells, and Grayson Wells; Four great grandsons, Levi Vanderloop, Liam Vanderloop, Kaiden Clark, and Khiel Clark; a great granddaughter, Caroline Kate Clark, born August 12; four sisters Melba Martin, Sylvia Gibbs (Don), Billie Sue Clark and Linda Fowler; a brother, Andy Clark; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2022, in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in
