2022 Homecoming Parade

The theme for the 2022 Ware County High School Homecoming Parade will be “Gators Got Game.”

Students will enjoy “dress up days” during the week of Monday, October 3 through Friday, October 7.

The community can get in on the action beginning at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, October 6 as the annual homecoming parade travels through downtown Waycross.

The parade route is still to be determined by the Waycross Police Department because of construction on Albany Street, a street used for past parades, a department spokesperson said. Past homecoming parades have been staged on the streets around Pernell Roberts Memorial Park and return there after traveling through downtown streets.

The finale of the week of celebration will be the homecoming game in Memorial Stadium against Region 1-AAAAA rival Jenkins with a homecoming queen and her court being announced at halftime. The Gators are 4-0 and ranked No. 1 in Class AAAAA by Maxpreps and second by the Atlanta Constitution after defeating Bainbridge, 22-16, last week.

Ware County has an open date this week.

Pierce County celebrated its homecoming last week with Brantley County’s scheduled this week for its 7:30 p.m. game

Wednesday against Toombs County. The game was originally scheduled for Friday, but moved up Monday in an effort to avoid the impact of the remnants of Hurricane Ian, which is expected to move through the area at the end of the week.
