September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and is recognized by childhood cancer organizations around the world.
Mattie’s Mission and Camp Tatum - Campground Ministries are going to be the recepients from monies raised during several “Going Gold” events.
The first Miss Ware County Gold pageant was held Saturday, September 3 to benefit Mattie’s Mission. There will be a Miles for Mattie 5K/1 Mile Fun Run slated for Saturday, September 24 at 8 a.m.
The Brandon Henderson Memorial Motorcycle Ride is scheduled for Saturday, September 10 with all proceeds going to Mattie’s Mission.

Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease for children in the U.S. According to estimates from the IARC Global Cancer Observatory, in 2020 almost 280,000 children and adolescents (aged 0–19 years) were diagnosed with cancer worldwide and almost 110,000 children died from cancer.
