WAYCROSS — Dollie Mae (Styron) Carter, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior at her home in Waycross on Friday, October 7, 2022.
Dollie was born in Beaufort N.C., and lived in Fernandina Beach, Fla., all of her adult life until 2012 when she moved to her home in Waycross to be near her children when her loving husband of 60 years, Harvey Carter, passed away.
During her life, Dollie lovingly cared for her family making their needs the highest priority. Although being wheelchair-bound for much of her later life, she continued to be independent caring for herself and her home, a testament to her strong will. She was the rock and foundation of her family.
Dollie was the daughter of the late Fairley F. Styron and Mary Guthrie Styron of Beaufort N.C. She also was preceded in death by her infant sister Louise Allen Styron.
She is survived by her son Douglas Carter, (wife Theresa), her daughter Deloris Guest (husband David); grandson Daniel Guest, (wife Sarah), granddaughter Danielle Guest; Great granddaughter, Dylann Davis; sisters Mary Louise Jones of Maryville Tenn., and Ellen Franklin of Morehead City, N.C.; along with many loving nieces and nephews, including great and great-great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 13, at Hephzibah Baptist Church Cemetery.
