WAYCROSS — Mrs. Wilma Grace Lee, 91, died Monday morning, October 3, 2022, at her residence after an extended illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Waycross. Mrs. Lee graduated from Wacona High School in 1948. She was formerly employed by the Ware County Tax Commissioner’s Office, and she retired from the Ware County Road Department as office manager after 30 years of service. Mrs. Lee attended Jamestown United Methodist Church and Kettle Creek Church, and she enjoyed gardening, traveling to the mountains and other various places, and helping raise her great grandchildren.
Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Fred Chapman and Berta Lou Allen Chapman; her husband, Eugene C. Lee; siblings, Pauline Thrift, Freddy Chapman, Helen Lance and Leon Chapman; and her special friend, Seward Smith.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Brookshire (late husband Terry) of Waycross; grandchildren, Patrick Brookshire (Wendy) of Waycross, and Lee Brookshire (Robyn) of Waycross; great grandchildren, Madison Brookshire Dukes, Taylor Brookshire and Tyce Brookshire; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Friday, October 7, 2022, at Oakland Cemetery.
