CLAYTON, Ga. — Robert “Butch” Lewis Clem, 69 of Clayton, Ga., passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023.
Clem was born in Waycross, the son of the late Florence Jacobs Clem and the late Hiawatha Robert Clem.
He was a native of Hoboken. Clem made Clayton his home for the last 18 years with his loving wife, Gladys Owens Clem.
Clem attended the Church of The Mountains. He enjoyed reading, music, dancing, westerns, playing pool and playing cards. Clem loved his dog Blackie.
He and Gladys enjoyed spending time at the Rabun County Senior Center. Clem had spent the last several months at Mountain View Health and Rehab.
The family wanted to thank the staff of Mountain View as well as the staff of Pruitt Hospice for the love and care given to Clem.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Earl Clem; and a sister, Wanda Clem Chaney.
Clem is survived by his loving wife, Gladys Owens Clem; two sons, Scott Chamblee (Kathy) of Clayton, Ga., and Gary Chamblee (Lanette) of Long Creek, S.C.; a brother, Jimmy Clem of Hoboken; a sister, Tina Clem Walker of Hoboken; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, and a number nieces and nephews also survive.
There will be a memorial service Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 6:30 p.m., at Phillipian Church located at 234 Kelly Street in Hoboken.
