Leo Melton Johnson

SCREVEN — Mr. Leo Melton Johnson, 76 of Screven, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023 at his residence.

Born October 3, 1946 in Homerville, Johnson had lived in Millwood for a few years prior to moving to Screven.

Johnson was a retired from Mullis Logging where he had been a truck driver. He had also worked as a mechanic and for an off-shore rigging company. Johnson loved being outdoors whether it was fishing or cleaning/raking his yard. He also enjoyed traveling.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Johnson was a son of the late Leo Hardy and Doma Lucille Smith Johnson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia “Bama” Henning Johnson of Screven; eight children, Missy (David) Thrift of Waycross, Kelsey Johnson of Screven, Sadie Johnson of Acme, Pa., Julianna (Robbie) Tiner of Mershon; Andrew Johnson and Seth (Mercedes) Johnson all of Waycross, Steve (Kristy) Musgrove of Naylor and Brian Musgrove of Argyle; three sisters, Carolyn (Don) Koski and Ann (Danny) Cox all of Kingsland, and Karen (Timmy) Carter of Waynesville; a brother, Kevin (Selina) Coleman of Valdosta; 22 grandchildren, Brittani Duggan, Rylan Thrift, Bodan Braswell, Emma Braswell, Mika Braswell, Sophie Johnson, Megan Musgrove, Alex Tiner, Tyler Tiner, Chance Tiner, Calliope Souris, Persephone Souris, Penelope Souris, Matthew Moon, Nickali Johnson, Annelise Johnson, Mila Johnson, Courtney Steedley, Summer Musgrove, Annabelle Musgrove, Dillion Musgrove and Chloe Musgrove; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A memorial service for Johnson will be held at a later date.

Memorialization is by cremation.
