BLACKSHEAR — Mrs. Loreta McClellan Viruet, age 91, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 14, 2023, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following an extended illness.
Born June 30, 1931, in Nahunta, she was a daughter of the late Demory Hillman and Vada Lee Mercer McClellan. She lived most of her life in Blackshear and Jacksonville, Florida and retired from the City of Jacksonville having worked with the Paper Bindery.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David James Duncan IV; sister, Loutrell McBee; and brother, Grafton McClellan.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Juan Viruet of Blackshear; 5 children, Demory Keith Duncan of Blackshear, Carola Faith Brown of Jacksonville, Vada Jean Perkins (husband Bob) of Arizona, William Kenneth Duncan (wife Irene) of Colorado, and Walter Richard Duncan of Blackshear; 3 step children, Julia Irene Horne (husband Robert) of Jacksonville, Juan Viruet, Jr. of Blackshear, and Martha Laverne Stephens (husband Bobby) of Jacksonville; 28 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a special niece and longtime friend, Diane Carter of Waycross; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Saturday afternoon, January 21, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Waycross
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
