HORTENSE – Winston Darrell Drury, 84 of Hortense, passed away Wednesday evening January 11, 2023 at Bayview Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Born in Hortense, Drury’s parents were Lona Drury and Daisy Lanier Drury. He is also preceded in death by two daughters, Eva Marie Drury and Edna Christine Drury Shepard; three brothers, Dwight Drury, Mack Drury and Ellis Drury; and three sisters, Ada Nelson, Ida Davis and Sally Howze.
Drury was a Forrester for Rayonier and served in the United States Air Force. He attended the Philadelphia Wesleyan Church and loved spending time with his family. Drury was a simple, easy-going man who loved gardening, fishing, hunting and being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Inge Drury of Hortense; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Winston C. Drury of Hortense and Richard D. Drury (Frances) of Devils Lake, N.D.; seven grandchildren, Ashley Drury, Rick Drury, Ryan Drury, Kaitlyn Drury, Nikki Drury, Chelsea Drury and Dustin Shepard; seve great grandchildren; two nephews, Jimmy Drury and Morris Willett; and several other relatives and a host of friends.
A graveside service was held Monday afternoon, January 16, 2023 at Drury Cemetery with Rev. Sheldon Rowell officiating.
Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
