Elbert Charles Hand 

NAHUNTA – Elbert Charles Hand, 60 of Nahunta, passed away early Thursday morning, January 19, 2023, at Memorial Satilla Health after a brief illness. 

Born in Jacksonville, Fla., Hand’s parents were Vernon Eugene Hand, Sr. and Edris Mae McCalligan Hand. 

Hand was a landscaper and loved landscaping. He loved his children and grandchildren, fishing and was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. 

Survivors include his wife, Marsha Diana Hand of Nahunta; five sons, Christopher Hand, Joshua Hand and Stephen Hand all of Jacksonville, Fla., Thomas Shifflett of Pennsylvania and William Swilley of Orlando, Fla.; three daughters, Doris Shifflett of Brunswick, Diana Teahan of Texas and Sabrina Swilley of Hastings, Fla.; 23 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Vernon Hand of Woodbine, Roger Hand and Mark Hand both of Brunswick, Edward Hand (Jennifer) and Colt Hand (Christy) all of Hortense, and David Hand (Constance) of Jesup; two sisters, Linda F. Davis of Nahunta and Julia Quicksaw of Indiana; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. 

A memorial service will be held at a later date. 

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
