BLACKSHEAR — Mrs. Barbara Ann Crosby Green, 70 of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 18, 2023 at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following a short illness.
Born December 30, 1952, in Waycross, Mrs. Green was a daughter of the late Owen Jackson and Frankie Louise Sheppard Crosby. She grew up in Waycross and Jacksonville, Fla.
Mrs. Green lived many years in Rincon, Ga., before retiring to Blackshear around 2015. She had worked as a bookkeeper and clerk for Citi Trends and had attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Springfield, Ga.
She was an avid dog lover who had many throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Green.
Survivors include her two children, Tonya Thompson (husband Brian) of Nahunta and David Crosby of Blackshear; six grandchildren, Teresa Sumner (husband B.J.) of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Taton Thompson (wife Sydney) of Jacksonville, Fla., Taylor Thompson of Blackshear, Bailey Turner (husband Dillon) of Patterson, Jessica Drawdy (husband David) of Blackshear, and Brennon Thompson of Blackshear; 12 great grandchildren and two expected soon; two step-sons, Randall Green (wife Im) and Tim Green, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Donna Ervin (husband Rick) of Jacksonville, Fla.; nephew, Jason Smith (wife Dawn) of Jacksonville, Fla.; several great nieces and nephews; and other relatives; and five dogs.
A funeral service was held Sunday, January 22, 2023 in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
