BRUNSWICK — Mrs. Phillis J. Sowell, 81, died Wednesday morning, April 12, 2023 at Senior Care Center in Brunswick after an extended illness.
Mrs. Sowell was born December 5, 1941 in Rome, Ga., to the late Lavell Davis and Evelyn Mercer Davis. She was formerly employed by Southern Bank, Bank South, Nations Bank and Bank of America in Waycross for over 30 years. She retired from Bank of America in Conyers, GA. Mrs. Sowell was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Eatonton, GA.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sowell was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Kenneth Sowell, Sr.
Survivors include her son, Ken Sowell (Sheri) of Waycross; one sister-in-law, Gail Davis; and two nieces, Penny Ogle and Terrie Griffia.
A funeral service was held Saturday morning, April 15, 2023, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Hoboken.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 2378 Mt. Calvary Church Rd., Hoboken, GA 31542.
