JESUP – Mrs. Carolyn Herrin Johnson, 81, died Tuesday night, March 14, 2023 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Johnson was born August 10, 1941, in Waycross to the late Dolph Herrin and Mattie Guy Herrin. She lived most of her life in Brantley County.
Mrs. Johnson was formerly employed as a certified hospice palliative care nurse for Hospice of the Golden Isles. She enjoyed reading, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson also was preceded in death by her husband, John Cornelius “Buddy” Johnson, Sr.; and two brothers, Kenneth Herrin and William M. “Bill” Herrin.
Survivors include five daughters, Ann J. Harmon (Karl), Teresa Lewis (Danny), Jan Prescott (Mike), Lisa Waters (Mike), and Ida Thrift (Jimmy); one son, John Johnson, Jr. (Libby); 17 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A graveside service was held Friday, March 17 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Hoboken.
