Aldine Carter Grushewsky

NAHUNTA — Ms. Aldine Carter Grushewsky, 77 of Nahunta, formerly of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday morning, April 26, 2023, at the Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta.  

Born July 23, 1945 in Blackshear, Ms. Grushewsky had lived in Pierce County most of her life before moving to Nahunta five years ago.  

She was a 1963 graduate of Blackshear High School.  Ms. Grushewsky had worked at different local factories over the years, but retired from Sunshine Grocery in Blackshear where she had been a cashier.

Ms. Grushewsky enjoyed listening to southern gospel and bluegrass music and also enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She was a kind and friendly soul with a lot of spunk and was also a loving mother and grandmother. Ms. Grushewsky was a member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church.

She was a daughter of the late John Franklin and Annie Irene Dial Carter.  Ms. Grushewsky was also preceded in death by a son, Keith Gill; a grandson, Cameron Gill; two sisters, Pauline Chaney and Waunell Singleton; and her brother, Virgil Carter.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Joey and Jessica Gill of Andrews, Texas and Richard and Carole Ann Gill of Nahunta; two sisters, Lois Simmons of Blackshear and Aline Neiman of Waycross; five grandchildren, Mary Beth Gill, Carter Lynn (Reid) Teatsorth, Grace Ann Gill, Walker Read Gill and Alan Dean Gill; a special niece, Jenny (Tony) Crowder of Blackshear; and several other nieces, nephews, and relatives.

Funeral services for Ms. Grushewsky were held Friday morning, April 28, 2023, from the Youmans Chapel Baptist Church.

Interment was in the Blackshear Cemetery.
