HORTENSE – Michael Amon Griffin, 58 of Hortense, passed away Saturday morning, March 25, 2023 at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick after an extended illness.
Born in Douglas, Griffin’s parents were Amon Griffin and Mary Lee Whitley Deen. He is also preceded in death by his stepfather, James Deen.
Griffin was a painter who loved hot rods, working on his truck, fishing and drag racing.
Survivors include his wife, Shonda Henderson of Hortense; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Garrett Griffin (Margee), Anthony Mitchell Griffin and Amon Wayne Griffin all of Waynesville; a daughter, Carrie Ann Griffin of Hortense; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Deannia Griffin Ray (Rick) of Griffin, Ga., Pam Crews (Lamar) of Jesup and Karen Deen of Hortense; also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A memorial service was held Tuesday afternoon, March 28, 2023 at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Harrison officiating
Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
