Mrs. Peterson was born February 25, 1949 in Jesup, Georgia to the late Roy Carr Coker and Bertie Lou L. Young. She grew up and attended school in Nahunta, Georgia.

In 1965, after marrying Pete Peterson, they would move to Illinois where she went back to school to earn a degree from Richland College in Decatur, Illinois. The Petersons, along with their two children Lisa and Don, moved back to Brunswick in 1981 and have called the city home ever since.

Mrs. Peterson was a member of Golden Isles Baptist Church. She was an avid photographer, loved horses and enjoyed working in her rose garden.

Mrs. Peterson loved to watch football and was a dedicated Chicago Bears fan. She loved every Sunday afternoon she could spend with the family as they would gather to watch the Bears play.

Mrs. Peterson was a beautiful person inside and out and her heart belonged to her family and friends. To her grandchildren, she was a “Nana” like no other, spending every minute possible with her family, especially cheering them all on at the ball fields every chance she could, passing down family recipes and being there at the drop of a hat no matter the matter or hour.

Mrs. Peterson will be deeply missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known such a remarkable soul.
