BRUNSWICK — Dennis Michael “Mike” Council, 62 of Brunswick, passed away peacefully at his home after a lengthy illness Saturday, April 15, 2023.
Council was born April 1, 1961 in Darien to Robert and Delree Drury Council. He spent his formative years in Pratt, Kansas and graduated from Pratt High School 1979.
Council returned to Brunswick where he resided for the past 38 years. He worked for Glynn County Public Works as a surveyor. After his retirement, Council worked for many years at Sonny's BBQ.
Council was preceded in death by his mother, Delree Drury Staats; his father, Robert Staats; and his brother, Bobby Council.
He is survived by his wife, Tina Melton Neff Council of Brunswick; one son, Ryan Neff of Waverly; two daughters, Chrystal Dawn Pickens of Jacksonville, Fla., and Heather Lynn Ellis of Gainesville, Fla.; one grandson, Owen Neff of Waverly; three granddaughters, Madison Ellis of Gainesville, Fla., and Audrey Pickens and Natalie Pickins, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; also, two brothers, Donnie Council (Marilyn) of Albany and Pete Staats (Holly) of Brunswick; a sister, Debbie Council Anthony (Wade) of Pratt, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Freda Underwood (Michael) of Hortense; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his precious fur baby, Man-Man.
A Memorial Service for Council was held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Sterling Baptist Church in Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Chapman Funeral Chapel for assistance with funeral expenses.
Chapman Funeral Chapel & Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
