Charles “Ed” Edward Roberson

WOODBINE — Charles “Ed” Edward Roberson, 70 of Woodbine, passed away at his residence Friday, April 14, 2023.

Roberson was born July 26, 1952 in Ocilla to Charles Edward Roberson, Sr. and Frances Inoree Batton Roberson, whom preceded him in death.

Roberson had lived most of his life in Camden County. He moved to Brunswick in 1987 where he lived for 12 years before moving back to Camden County.

Roberson was a 1970 graduate of Camden County High School in Woodbine. He had worked at Gilman Paper Company, then went to work with Independent Life Insurance Company and Gulf Life Insurance Company as sales manager.

Roberson then worked as the branch manager of Coventry Electric Supply, then on to the maintenance department of Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick Campus, then as the property manager for St. Simons Storage and the Skylane Business Center.

Roberson was a member of Little Memorial Baptist Church, and St. Marys Lodge 109 F & AM.  He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, hunting, and was an avid Georgia Bulldog football fan.

Roberson loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, with some of the best times spent fishing in a pond he had dug, and stocked with fish, so all of the family could enjoy more time together.

Roberson’s favorite task in life was being a wonderful “Poppy” to Brittani Garner (Donrae), Zachary Deen (Alissa), Kaylon Roberson (Bryan Swain), Dalton Clark, Amber Roberson, Cole Cahill, Mallerie Davis (Ben), and Raegan Williamson and his 4 great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Annette Aldridge Roberson of Woodbine; a son, Chad Roberson (Angela) of St. Marys; a daughter, Stefane Deen (Brad) of Hortense; a sister, Regina Blauvelt (Roger) of Brunswick; a brother, Steven Keith Roberson (Elizabeth) of Shellman Bluff; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held today (Wednesday, April April 19, 2023) at  11 a.m., at Little Memorial Baptist Church, in Hortense, with Brother Keith Brown officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with Zachary Deen, Donrae Garner, Ben Davis, Brian Swain, Scott Hoyle and Chuck Stokes serving as active pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the American Diabetes Association.

Allison Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of St. Marys is in charge of the arrangements.
