Lois Sandra Sloan Ashby

HORTENSE – Lois Sandra Sloan Ashby, 78 of Hortense, passed away Thursday evening, May 11, 2023 at her residence after an extended illness.

Born in Hortense, Mrs. Ashby’s parents were Vernie Sloan and Mary Taylor Sloan. She is also preceded in death by five siblings, Estelle, Louise, Marvin, Iris, and Myrtice.

Mrs. Ashby worked at the National Motor Club as a salesperson before retiring. She was a member of the Hortense Church of God of Prophecy. Mrs. Ashby loved going to the beach, and cooking, and also loved her grandkids dearly and loved singing to the grandkids in church.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Ashby of Hortense; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela “Angie” Williams (Jerome) of Hortense; two step-children, Charles Robbie Ashby and Rebecca Ashby Stinsman;  six grandchildren, Brandon Williams, Britton Williams, Brinson Williams (Cameron), Rebecca Ashby, Kalvin Stinsman and Tristan Ashby; five great grandchildren, Hayden, Aubreigh, Kali, RiverLynn Loftus and Kinsley Loftus; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the Hortense Church of God of Prophecy with Bishop Rob Hutto and Bishop Raymond Willis officiating.

Burial followed in the Hortense cemetery.

Pallbearers were Britton Williams, Brinson Williams, Curtis Bradley, Paul Bradley, Gene Oglesby and Mason Mathie.

Honorary pallbearers were Roxie Flowers, Karon Hickox, Natasha Kinnear, Amy Tracy, Richard Dancel, Pastor Pat McCord, Christy Chesser, Lynn Franklin, Brandy Davis and Jessica Hagood.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the ladies from the Church of God of Prophecy.

Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
