BLACKSHEAR — Mrs. Sarah Kay Chancey Peacock, 67 of Blackshear, passed away Monday evening, April 18, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family following an extended illness.
Born November 30, 1955, in Waycross, Mrs. Peacock was a daughter of the late Kenneth M. and Louise Virginia Dyson Chancey. She lived all her life in the southeast Georgia area and graduated from Camden County High School in 1974.
Mrs. Peacock had worked as an LPN at Baptist Village and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Peacock was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Chancey; and her father and mother-in-law, Luther and Virginia Peacock.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Benny Wray Peacock of Blackshear; two children, Virginia Michelle Lee (husband Dewayne) and Marie Peacock Cason (husband Danny), both of Blackshear; six grandchildren, Annabeth Lee, Marissa Robinson (husband Devin), Colton Haire, Ashleigh Haire, Trey Cason, and Jon Cason (wife Blake); four great grandchildren, Percy Robinson, James “Wally” Haire, Hazel Cason and Warren Cason; two sisters, Janice Lowe (husband Keith) and Joyce Sapp (husband Sammy), both of Brantley County; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Faye Chancey of Colesburg, Ga., Demory Peacock (wife Chan), Gwen Barber (husband Bill), and Sue Dowling, all of Blackshear, and W.L. Peacock (wife Wanda) of Waycross; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service was held Friday, April 21 at Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in the Raulerson Cemetery.
