Edward W. “Bill” Tankersley Jr.

BRUNSWICK — Edward W. “Bill” Tankersley Jr., 80 of Brunswick, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta.

Tankersley worked at Sears and KOCH Cellulose (Pulp Mill) for many years, where he made many lifelong friends. He enjoyed his leisure time hunting, fishing, boating, and watching baseball and football games with his wife.

Tankersley was a devoted husband to his wife, Helen Tankersley, for 46 years. Family was very important to him. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren at both his home and his hunting clubs. According to his family, Tankersley had a strong belief in doing the right thing, which he passed on to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie Tankersley, and parents, Edward W. Tankersley Sr and Afton Willoughby Tankersley.

Tankersley is survived by his son, Edward W. “Tank” Tankersley III and wife, Deidra, of Brunswick; daughter, Brenda Faye Tankersley Bennett and husband, Greg, of Brunswick; sisters, Gail Tankersley of Brunswick, Cheryl DePew and husband, Alan, of Garrett, Ind., and Rose Moldenhauer and husband, Craig, of Encinitas, Calif.; six grandchildren, Kristen M. Sheffield and husband Joshua, David G. Bennett, Amber D. Tankersley and Stephen Floyd, Gracyn N. Bailey and W. Trent Tankersley; two great-grandchildren, Fayelynn Marie Sheffield, and Maddox Mitchell Sweeney.

A graveside services was held Monday, March 27, 2023 at Chapel Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Edward William Tankersley III, W. Trent Tankersley, Greg Bennett, David Bennett, Stephen Floyd and Joshua Sheffield.
