Sam Townsend Miller, Jr.

WHITE OAK — Sam Townsend Miller, Jr., 75 of White Oak, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Woodbine,  Miller’s parents were Sam Townsend Miller, Sr. and Mary Eva Davis. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Keith Miller; a nephew, Joseph Miller; and sister-in-law, Jeanette Miller.

Miller was the owner and operator of Sam Miller Logging Inc. He was a member of Blessed Community Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and growing flowers.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Byrd Miller of White Oak; his son and his partner, Sam Miller III (Freddie) of Shelby, N.C.; daughter, Stephanie Miller of White Oak; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe Miller (Debbie), Tom Miller (Fannie), Richard Miller (Regina) all of White Oak; two sisters and their spouses, Debra King (Gregory “Rooster”) and Lindy Carter (Kim), all of White Oak; bonus sister, Shirley Carter of Woodbine; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A graveside service was held Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Bickley Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Sikes and Bro. David Dowling officiating.

Pallbearers were Greg King, Tom Miller, Richard Miller, Uncle Walton Miller, Kim Carter, Kevin Chaney, Mister Miller, Larry Loper and Johnny Williamson.

Honorary pallbearers were J.R. Herrin, Joe Miller, Michael Miller, Ralph Wainright, and Edward Harrell.

Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
