MT. PLEASANT — Dennie Hugh Barwick, 80, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022 at home under the care of Coastal Hospice surrounded by his loving family.
A resident of Mt. Pleasant for over 20 years and former resident of Brunswick, Barwick was born April 11, 1942 in Wayne County to the late George W. and Cora Howard Barwick. He spent his formative years in Gardi and was a graduate of Wayne County High School.
Barwick worked for Georgia Pacific as a pipefitter for over 37 years before his retirement in 1996. He was a Master Mason at the Brunswick Masonic Lodge # 717 F&AM and was also a member of the Shriners. Barwick loved bowling in his younger years and was a life-long fisherman who enjoyed hunting occasionally.
In addition to his parents, his first wife, Joyce Marie Barwick, and his brother, Larry Barwick, both preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Barwick of Mt. Pleasant; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Pam Barwick of Brunswick and Roger and Nita Barwick of Waynesville; one brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Marti Barwick of Nevada, Missouri and a sister-in-law, Joyce Barwick of Brunswick; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
A funeral services held Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.
Entombment will follow at Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick with Masonic Rites.
Active pallbearers will be Chris, Ronnie, Roger, Kenneth, Duane and Chase Barwick.
Howard & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
