The Pierce County Bears football team fell behind the visiting Toombs County Bulldogs early Friday night, Oct. 14, in Bearville but were able to come from behind winning 31-28. With the victory, the Bears improved to 6-1 overall this season and 2-1 in Region 3-AA. The Bears are scheduled to host the Windsor Forest Knights Friday, October 21. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
The match-up with Windsor Forest will be the fifth overall meeting between the two programs and third regular season match-up dating back to September 3, 2010. The Bears have faced the Knights in the first round of the state playoffs twice over the past four seasons winning 42-0 in 2021 and 49-21 in 2018. The Bears are 4-0 overall when facing the Knights. This will be the first time the two have played a region contest.
Windsor Forrest is currently 1-7 overall this season losing to Svannah Country Day 31-0 August 19, losing to New Hampstead 44-7 August 26, losing to Johnson of Savannah 26-0 September 5, defeating Islands 14-10 September 9, losing to Vidalia 36-14 September 23, losing to Tattnall County 35-0 September 28, losing to Brantley County 24-12 October 7 and losing to Appling County 38-0 October 14.

Toombs County opened the scoring on a 22-yard pass and after converting the extra point lead 7-0 with 35.2 seconds left in the first quarter.
Toombs County increased the lead to 14-0 on a 80-yard pass with 6:28 left in the second quarter.
The Bears were able to answer with a 20-yard pass from DJ Bell to JaQuez White. Jonah Allen converted the extra point to make the score 14-7 with 2:52 remaining in the second quarter.
The Bears tied the score at 14-14 on a 3-yard run by Bell with 2:31 left in the second quarter.
The score was set up by an interception and return by Bear linebacker Wade DiBase. Allen converted the extra point.
The Bears took the lead with 16.3 remaining in the second quarter on a four-yard run by Jimarion Guyton, Allen converted the extra point to make the score 21-14.
The Bears increased the lead on a fumble recovery in the end zone by linebacker Carson Sloan. Allen added the extra point to make the score 28-14 at the 7:42 mark in the third quarter.
Toombs County answered on a six-yard run to get within 28-21 with 1:19 left in the third quarter.
The Bears added a 36-yard field goal with 9:24 remaining in the fourth quarter to increase the lead to 31-21.
Toombs County scored on a 48-yard run with 6:04 left in the fourth quarter to make the final score 31-28.
