Helen Cravey Waters

NAHUNTA — Mrs. Helen Cravey Waters, 89 of Nahunta, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.

Born in Alamo, on February 16, 1933, she had lived in Brunswick for many years before moving to Blackshear in 2007. Mrs. Waters was retired from the Glynn County Board of Education where she had been a Paraprofessional. She enjoyed working in her yard and being a member of the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Waters was a founding member of College Place United Methodist Church in Brunswick and was currently attending Blackshear First United Methodist Church.

She was a daughter of the late William Homer and Charlie Mae Walker Cravey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Grady Eugene “Gene” Waters; a son, Mickey Waters; her sister, JoAnn Causey; and three brothers, John Cravey, Jimmy Cravey, and Mike Cravey.

Survivors include a son, Richard (Terri) Waters of Nahunta; a brother, Jack (Bertha Ruth) Cravey of Waycross; a sister-in-law, Linda Cravey of Waycross; two grandchildren, Kayce Waters and Laney Waters; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Waters were held Friday afternoon, December 16, 2022, at the Pearson-Dial Chapel with Rev. Mary Ann Braswell officiating.

Interment was in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Appling County.
