Bobby Wayne Cox

Waycross — Bobby Wayne Cox, 72 of Waycross, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Baptist Village in Waycross, after an extended illness.

Born in Hoboken, his parents were Rufus Cox and Missouri Fannie Gunter Cox. He was also preceded in death by a son, Tracy Wayne Cox; a daughter, Amy Karlene Kirkland; a brother, Dickie Daniel; and maternal grandparents, Lester and Martha Gunter.

Cox worked for Epoxy Floor Covering as a supervisor and was a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. He loved hunting, fishing, loved his horses and loved working. Cox was always helping people and loved his family.

Survivors include his wife, Amy Alecia Fraser Cox of Waycross; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike Cox (Tammy) of Hazlehurst, and Bobby Cox, Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Cash Cox (Caitlyn) of Statesboro; Kristen Cox and Serene Cox both of South Carolina; Travis Cox and Courtney Cox both of Hazlehurst, Ashley Griffin (Adrien) of Baxley, Evan Kirkland (Auri) of Hoboken, and Ellison Kirkland of Blackshear; five great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Randy Cox (Elaine) of Ocala, Fla.; a sister, Wanda Crooms of Brunswick; a special aunt, Betty Greshan (Damon) of Longview, Texas; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 31, 2022, from 10 a.m.-11 a.m., at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church .

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Randall Gunter and Evan Kirkland officiating.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
