ALMA — Bacon County garnered a split here Tuesday with visiting Brantley County in a non-region matchup of different classification programs.
The Lady Red Raiders (7-1) notched a seventh consecutive victory while ending the Lady Herons’ (7-4) two-game winning streak with a 54-29 victory. Brantley County won the season opener 48-32 at home November 22.
The Herons (7-4) ended a four-game losing streak in the nightcap posting a 64-54 decision for the season sweep while halting the Red Raiders’ (3-5) two-game win streak. Brantley County captured a 58-52 decision in the first meeting.
Brantley County will host Lanier County Thursday, December 29 to close out the calendar year. BCHS opens the second half of the season Tuesday, January 3 traveling to Vidalia.

Bacon County pulled away from a seven-point halftime lead outscoring the Lady Herons by 18 points to register the win.
“We had way too many turnovers and not enough rebounds,” said head coach Susan Thomas.
The Lady Red Raiders led just 11-10 at the end of the opening period. Bacon County used an 11-5 scoring advantage in the second quarter to take a 22-15 lead at intermission.
A 16-6 scoring advantage in the third stanza by the Lady Red Raiders extended their margin to 38-21. Bacon County doubled up the Lady Herons 16-8 in the final period.
Reagan Bowers topped Brantley County with nine points. Abbie Lee (team-high tying five rebounds) netted five points with Rachel Crews (team-high tying five rebounds) contributing three points.

Michael Conner scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds leading Brantley County past the Red Raiders.
“This was a good win to get a win to send us to Christmas break,” said head coach Tripp Herrin.
The Herons raced out to an eight-point advantage by the end of the first quarter in taking a 19-11 lead. They outscored Bacon County 17-14 in the second stanza for a 36-25 halftime advantage.
Each team scored 14 points in the third period with Brantley County carrying a 50-39 lead into the final eight minutes. The Red Raiders sliced one point off the deficit in the fourth quarter outscoring the visitors 15-14.
Luke Hall (team-leading seven assists) joined Conner in double figures with 16 points. Tucker O’Quinn followed with 13 points.
Braden Herrin, Kellon Middleton and Patrick O'Quinn each contributed four points.
