Thanksgiving Spirit in Nahunta

Nahunta Mayor Barbara Maefield, along with volunteers, Dr. Louveina A. Rainge (organizer) and Dr. Tammye M. Lee (organizer), as well as helpers Carletha Rainge Bryant, William Reylld, and Brandy Maefield worked hard Monday to provide turkeys, fruit, snacks and T-shirts and sweatshirts to a large portion of the population of Nahunta to extend the Thanksgiving spirit. Sponsors for the event include Rainge Family Dental, FOCI Corporate and Promotional Gifts as well as others. The event, held at the Brantley County Public Library, was highly attended with the grounds outside covered with families wanting to be a part of the giveaway. Doors were opened at 9 a.m. and the giveaway lasted through 2 p.m. A total of 275 frozen turkeys were given away, along with 51 smoked hams, oranges, apples, tangerines, chips, candy and other products to help with a Thanksgiving feast for some who may not have access to the food products. Maefield said she was thrilled with all the donations and that the group was able to bless members of the Brantley County community.
