As a newcomer to this community and the State of Georgia, what is the first and most important thing I need to know? I have been here for two months now and find myself still walking into walls at times. Is there a "Welcome Packet" that is handed out when you move into the county that makes it a bit easier? Let me provide a few examples of what I am looking for that would help tremendously:
1) What is the procedure for changing out-of-state license plates and driver's license?
2) I've seen speed limit signs in a couple of lower states that say, "max speed 80 and min speed 45", how does a cop write a speeding ticket?
3) What is happening with the empty businesses around town? Are they being used for any purpose? Or is there a plan for them?
4) I have learned that some of the departments cover several different services, it would be helpful if this was listed.
5) Anyone/any business looking for temporary or long-term volunteers?
I've been retired for a couple of years but thinking about going back to work parttime.
Thoughtful suggestions would be great to trigger the mind.
