Venson Neal Sikes, 65, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning, October 4, 2022, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Born February 14, 1957, in Jesup, he was a son of the late Mitchell Elmer and Eureta Harris Sikes. He lived all his life in Wayne and Pierce Counties and had worked as a self-employed contractor as the owner of C&M Construction Company. He then worked for 18 years with the Pierce County Road Department and then retired after 20 years as an owner/operator semi truck driver.
He formerly attended Full Gospel Church of God Apostolic in Waycross but had currently been attending New Life Assembly of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son; a grandchild, Babe Twilley; two brothers, Harold Sikes and Eddie Sikes and several baby siblings.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Paula Sikes, Blackshear; two children, Cindy Sikes Twilley (husband Art), Salisbury, MD and Matthew Sikes (wife Krystal), Blackshear; four grandchildren, Andrea Twilley Manuel (husband Jason), William Tyler Twilley, Austin Sikes and Megan Sikes; two great-grandchildren and another expected soon, Finn Levin Twilley, Carter Reed Manuel and Oakley Wyatt Manuel due in November; a sister, Faye Cribbs, Alma; a brother, Freddie Sikes (wife Marilyn), Jesup; a sister-in-law, Wanda Sikes, Baxley and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery.
