HICKOX - Brantley County Sheriff Len Davis confirmed early Thursday (Nov. 10) that a body had been found under the bridge on White Ford Road near here.
Davis said the body appears to be that of a man but has not been identified as yet.
"We do suspect foul play," said Davis. "It seems like the body has been there for some time. We don't yet know who it is but we don't believe it was anyone from the local area."
Davis said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Kingsland Office, has been involved in the investigation and that further information could not be released this morning.
"As soon as I learn anything, I will contact and let you know," said Davis. "However, the next news may come from the GBI as they take over the investigation."
