Brantley County split a pair of games and had a third rained out during action last week.
Class A D-I MaxPreps 15th-ranked Bacon County (6-3-1) handed the Lady Herons (5-7, 2-1 Region 3-AA) an 8-2 home loss Monday, August 29. Brantley County posted a 4-1 win in the season-opening August 2 scrimmage in Alma.
The Lady Herons bounced back with a 5-3 road win Tuesday, August 30 at region foe Toombs County. No report was filed on the game.
A home region matchup with Vidalia was rained out Thursday. No makeup date has been announced.
Brantley County traveled Tuesday, September 6 to Coffee. Top-ranked Appling County visits Thursday for a region matchup.
The Lady Herons are scheduled to play a pair of games in the Jeff Davis tournament Friday afternoon.

CANEY BAY — The Lady Red Raiders plated three runs in the second inning in taking the lead for good in beating Brantley County.
Bacon County collected four of its 15 hits in the second against Kira Altman (4 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 1 K, 2 BB, 1 HBP) sending eight batters to the plate.
Cloe Pless (2-for-3) opened the frame with a single and moved to second on Jess Carledge’s (1-for-3) sacrifice bunt. An infield hit by Annakate Hollingsworth (2-for-4) and an error on a ball hit by Ava Conner loaded the bases.
Santana Green’s (2-for-2) ensuing sacrifice bunt scored Pless with the first run. Alexis Kirkland (3-for-4) followed two pitches later with a two-run double to left-center for a 3-0 lead.
The Lady Herons closed the deficit to 3-2 in their half of the third inning. Kelsi Bishop reached on a one-out, two-base error with Brooklyn Wildes (1-for-4) following with a single to center. Following Wildes’ theft of second, Maggie Crews (1-for-3) laced a first-pitch, two-out double scoring Bishop’s courtesy runner Alyssa Wilson and Wildes.
Bacon County got the two runs back in the top of the fourth on two-out RBI singles by Riley Andrews (3-for-5) and Ayla Dixon (1-for-4).
The Lady Red Raiders pushed home three runs in the seventh against Chelsia Turner (3 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 K, 0 BB) to open up a six-run advantage.
Kirkland’s one-out, two-run double followed a single by Hollingsworth and Green’s double. Andrews RBI single scored Kirkland with the final run.
