WAYNESVILLE —Raymond Edward “Ray” Tarrant Jr., 73 of Waynesville, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022.
Tarrant was born in Waycross and grew up in Brunswick. After attending Glynn Academy, he served with the United States Army in Vietnam and Germany.
An auto mechanic by trade, Tarrant later began a career in home repair and building. It was said of him that he could build or fix anything. He had an outstanding work ethic and his customers spoke highly of him.
Tarrant is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Edward Tarrant Sr. and Betty Altman Tarrant.
Left to cherish his memories are his sisters, Sherry Pickett (Mike), Sandy Collins (Eddie) and Donna Tarrant, all of St. Simons Island, and Debby Lloyd of Columbus, Ga.; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.mAlso left to cherish Tarrant’s memories oare his special friends Gordy, Peggy, Blake and Ramsey Merrill. They were like a second family.
Tarrant was a quiet man and a thoughtful person. He loved reading the Bible and could quote a verse to you verbatim that could explain any situation.
A celebration of life was held Thursday, September 8 in the St. Simons United Methodist Church Chapel. Pastor Ron Scarbro officiated the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Simons United Methodist Building Fund or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick was in charge of arrangement.
